First Summer Day at the Beach--Hurray!

Jul. 9th, 2011 | 10:37 pm

Mom and I went to Port Dover today for our first beach outing of the season. It was a beautiful, sunny day but the water was pretty "refreshing" (read cold.) I had checked on the net before we left, and it was 73C. Still, we were brave and went in 3 times, so we made the most of it.

We really wanted some summer ice cream (cotton candy) but the ice-cream fairies conspired against us. The usual ice-cream place had moved to the other side of the pier and when we tried to stop at the supermarket on the way home, (So we could dig in on the drive back thanks to picnic utensils) the store had literally JUST closed. Mom had no luck on the drive to her place either. Her location was open, they just didn't have any in. Strike three!

Sometimes, somebody is trying to tell you something. Still, a good day, filled with sand, sun and swimmimg. A nice way to spend a Saturday.

So sorry I didn't get around to more UK pictures tonight, but both the sun and the swimming have tired me out. (If you can call flopping around in the water swimmimg)

I'll get back to my vacation pictures tomorrow.

Mom took these pictures for a beach day contest (of course she did, we have to get back to work you know!:-)) so she picked the busiest part of the beach to take the pictures from. We weren't in this chaos, we sit under a shaded tree near the edge of the beach
