Cruisin' all the way to the Bank...

Apr. 2nd, 2011 | 12:45 am

It's no April Fool's joke, our final cruise payment was due today so we're all in now, no backing out, no jumping ship. The good news is, we saved eleven hundred dollars because we were guaranteed the lowest price until the final payment and it looks like they had some empty cabins to fill, so slashed their prices. Woohooo! It's the equivalent of getting half of our excursions for free. We've booked all of our shore day trips, but honestly, I don't remember half of them. I'll look at the list again before we go, but a part of me wants that element of surprise for each, you know? We agreed on the activities fairly quickly, so I trust our initial instincts.

Mom on the other hand, seems to want to talk them to death and do all of this"research." I can understand the need to be prepared, but there is such a thing as being over prepared. I enjoy looking at each new experience with a fresh eye. That said, we went to a large bookstore today, and Mom was sticking Irish travel books under my nose. SO BEAUTIFUL and SO GREEN. I had the urge to transport myself into the book pages and break into a hearty rendition of "Oh Danny Boy." A man sitting next to us saw us ogling the pages and chimed in with,  "I've been, and I can tell you, you will never forget it, Emerald Isle indeed."

Maybe it was hearing it from someone else, but somehow, in that moment, it became real and a surge of excitement shot straight up my spine. For the first time, I wasn't anxious or nervous, I was exhilarated. So go ahead, CHARGE IT, take all my money, break the bank, I'm going to Europe baby, bank on it!
